Missouri City, Texas – Houston area golfers have reason to celebrate this holiday season with the grand opening of the El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course. This championship 18-hole course designed by Jeff Blume will tee-off at 7 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009 with tee reservations available beginning at 6:30 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009. The public is invited to attend a ceremonial opening of the course on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m.

After an extensive ten months of construction that included moving 200,000 cubic tons of dirt, installing a complete irrigation system, building 78 sand traps, 5 different tee boxes, shaping and undulating 18 greens, the El Dorado premieres to the public Thanksgiving weekend. Quail Valley resident, PGA Tour winner and Golf Channel commentator Billy Ray Brown described El Dorado: “This will be the best public golf course in the Houston market.”
General Manager Dave Elmendorf says, “The El Dorado has been the subject of all the residents’ conversation and watchful eye over the past ten months as the vision grew from an abandoned well-known course into a gem of a championship property. Every day there are calls asking about the progress and people stopping by the Pro Shop to study the easels displaying the new course layout.”
Quail Valley Golf Course includes the new El Dorado and the traditional La Quinta, which also has a new irrigation system and sand traps. Both courses are public with tee times available seven days in advance. The number to the Pro Shop is 281-403-5910.
