Watch the Golf Channel's Billy Ray Brown describe the course.
Hole 1
A Par 5 that measures 500 yards from tee to green demands your tee shot to be up the left hand side. After you do that, some of the longer players can get here in 2, but more importantly, lay up to a perfect yardage of about 100 yards to the green that is heavily surrounded by bunkers. Hit a couple of good shots here and birdie is a possibility.
Hole 2
A demanding Par 4 that measures 437 yards with out of bounds both right and left, a tee shot up the right side is very important. Try to avoid the bunkers on left hand side of the green. Par is a good score here.
Hole 3
An extreme dog leg left Par 4 that measure just 408 yards. Most of the players will be laying up off the tee leaving themselves with a second shot back over the water. If you miss over a green to the right, it goes deep into a collection area. Par is a tough score here.
Hole 4
The shortest of the Par 4s on the front 9, players will be laying up once again leaving a second shot of maybe a wedge or 9 iron over water. This is one of the holes that you can birdie on quite easily.
Hole 5
A picturesque Par 3, requires players to be hitting over water. It’s one of the short holes measuring just 147 yards.
Hole 6
This is one of the most challenging Par 4s on the La Quinta Golf Course with water on the right hand side, a sharp dog leg from left to right, you must play it down the left hand side off the tee leaving yourself with a long second shot in to the green.
Hole 7
The longest Par 5's on this golf course measures 563 yards, a fairway that slopes left to right. This is a 3 shot hole, not too many players can get here in 2. The treacherous shot is the layup, try to leave yourself with a short iron in for your third.
Hole 8
An uphill Par of 3 that measures 180 yards to an exposed green. Wind is critical to the shot here, usually coming from the right to left making this a very difficult hole.
Hole 9
The 9th hole is a 414 yard, very narrow driving Par 4 hole, bunkers down the left and right. You must find the fairway here because your second shot comes up and over water to a green that really has a lot of movement. So, it's key to get the ball in a fairway here.
Hole 10
After you make the turn you come to the 10th a Par 4 that measure 406 yards. The tee shot and second shot are pretty easy. The fun begins when you get upon the green.
Hole 11
The 11th hole, an interesting Par 5, a short dog leg right to left. It depends on how much a player wants to bite off on this tee shot, maybe leaving themselves with a second shot that can get to the green. You might see some eagles here.
Hole 12
This is one of the birdie holes, here on the Par 4 12th, measuring 423 yards. Off the tee you must bisect the trees down the left and right, leaving yourself with a short second shot. 3 is a possibility on this hole.
Hole 13
There is usually a helping breeze here at this Par 3 that measures 173 yards. Usually it’s about an 8 iron shot from the back tee, but you must avoid the bunkers right and left, if you’re going to make 3 here.
Hole 14
The longest of the Par 4s here at the La Quinta Golf Course measures 510 yards, but there is usually a helping breeze. You must find the fairway down the right side, but your second shot, up hill, to an elevated green, must avoid the bunkers on the right hand side.
Hole 15
On this 470 yard Par 4, You must drive it down the left hand side of the fairway. The second shot requires a shot over a hazard, but it gives you enough room to try to to run the ball up the left hand side of this green. You must avoid the bunker on the right hand side. Four is a great score here.
Hole 16
On this 410 yard Par 4, you must avoid the bunkers down the right hand side. If you’re going to make a mistake on your second shot, miss it to the right, because water lurks to the left.
Hole 17
The tee shot at the Par 3 17th that measures 153 yards requires a shot directly over water. A large undulating green requires a good shot, but two is a possibility here.
Hole 18
Our home hole here at the La Quinta Golf Course, the Par 4, 18th, 403 yards. Water down the right hand side, players must lay up to the hazard that comes across to the center of the fairway. This will leave you 100-145 yards left for your second shot, to a green that is heavily bunkered, front and left.
